It would be helpful if ODK Collect could automatically download the available
set of forms on a regular basis. This would keep the local cache of forms up to
date, and would also make sense for enumerators who had less than ideal data
connections.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

1.1.4 on Android 1.5 and 1.6

This would be an awesome feature especially with multiple devices in the field.
would be tough to manage manual updates of each device.

This would save me so many problems! One of my biggest problems is getting
users to update to the latest versions of forms.

I'm hoping ODK could automatically check for new versions of forms rather than
download on a predefined schedule or even if I could "push" new versions. Any
way we could automatically update without user intervention would help though.

yes! we update forms often and the enumerators have remember to: click on get
blank form / say yes to username and password / then they don't know which are
updated so they have to press toggle all / press get selected / press OK / go
to delete saved form and work out which is older / click the right one / press
delete selected / confirm. Fiddly and error-prone!

Totally agree that this is important and matters for usability.
