MyST uses a slightly different syntax for integrating Mermaid diagrams, see https://myst-parser.readthedocs.io/en/latest/intro.html#extending-sphinx (ignore the > ):

> ```{mermaid}
> [...]
> ```

It would be cool if this syntax was supported as well :)
