As an owner of the platform
I need to be able to retire old images
So that the security and stability of the platform can be maintained
Value / Purpose
Currently, the AP provides a number of different tooling images to users, including R, Python, and VS Code IDEs. However, we currently do not have a strategy for end-of-life-ing images. This will eventually become a liability in terms of the emergence of vulnerabilities etc. As such, we should formulate our approach to handling end-of-lifing of images, and then publish that strategy somewhere it can be viewed by users, so they can anticipate changes to available images.

Proposal
We need to first create an ADR or similar on when/why we end-of-life images, and then based on that publish guidance our users can see.
Additional Information

Definition of Done
We have a strategy for under what circumstances we end-of-life a provided image
We have published planned end-of-life times for existing images in the AP user guidance
We have a runbook for how we retire an existing image
