i tried your nice tips last week and it works like a charm. Only thing is i find it slow, probably due to that 60fps capture method. Anyways i was looking into how to hookup a canon camera to use a live camera on OSX and noticed they use a library called libjpeg turbo.

Perhaps its something which can be implanted in your workflow? Im gonna check if i get this working. Would be a nice option if you want speedier output
