crash on macos 10.13 #904
Comments
I've been getting this as well, have you found any solutions yet? |
i have been give up to play minecraft pe on macbook |
Same MacBookAir mid 2011 get works 1.20.15 and lower only and on those versions xbox sign in doesn't work either. :/ |
You are using older Hardware than my oldest ever working Hardware (Intel Ivybridge 2012). Updates to Graphics api requirements from mojang are directly forwarded to drivers, which kills old platforms. I assume you are also affected by #933 The only solution to get the current game versions now running on that old GPU's means software rendering by ca. 6fps. That isn't worth it if you ask me. It would has been useful in the original post to provide that the launcher stopped working after a game update to classify the bug as a deprecation of old hardware support by mojang.
Is this a common or a specfic problem of your system? xbox sign in is buggy and unreliable, but didn't stop working for me. Doesn't mean there is no bug. |
Ok well thanks I kinda don’t understand some of that because after all I am about 5 months older than that computer XD |
@forestg10 If you would get linux(e.g. ubuntu) installed as a dual boot OS on your mac. Then there is hope for you to be able to run 1.20.50+ You have a sandybridge gpu, which has on linux enough gpu support for newer minecraft versions see https://www.phoronix.com/news/MTMwOTc On macOS, you need a newer mac. |
it's GeForce 320M |
You would have to try it out, I had issues with my dual gpu 620M under linux (since 320M is older, I expect you don't have newer drivers). If you can setup a nvidia gpu only mode to 320M and run glxinfo you might see if linux has better gpu hardware support. I think it's a bigger experiment to get linux running well. Cannot find anything about OpenGL ES 3.0 support for it. Only pages claiming OpenGL 3.3 support. OpenGL 3.3 (doesn't directly supported by the game) is not the same as OpenGL ES 3.0+ (supported by the game) |
I'm on an imac 2019, it crashes with this about once every couple hours on this, i'm coming from using java normally so this doesn't bother me much - but I don't QUITE understand yet how to dual boot without screwing my computer up (And more so the fact this damn thing has a fusion drive and if it goes below 700gb it has a apple-eptic fit) |
I would believe you that this unstable software crashes every hour, but not that the crash log in this issue is identical to yours. Please prove that it is the same crash log by uploading it in a markdown code block |
I'll take a look next time it's up, it may not be 100% the same issue just that on my imac I can't see the whole log for some reason. |
