Now that we have a great landing experience in the VS Code marketplace https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=ms-graph.kiota we believe that the value of kiota.dev has diminished. We believe that deprecating kiota.dev will remove some of the dependencies that are needed when trying to build and deploy Kiota tooling.

Looking at the numbers before sunsetting the app over the last 7 days:

  • ~200 sessions. 75% of that looks like indexing bots (headless chrome)
  • ~12 searches
  • ~6 generations
Granted that we didn't do any active promotion of the web app, and nobody has linked to it yet.
We also faced challenges with GitHub's authentication (no support for implicit flow or PKCE, no CORS support for the version header), as well as the absence of multi-threading support in blazor-wasm impacting generation performance a great deal.
While maintaining this web app is fairly low cost, we don't have the resources to improve it further, and sending people to the vs-code extension seems like the logical next step.
