Please pass -Xfrozen_modules=off when debuging

Hi there!

When I try to run Python Debugger: Debug Python File I get:

0.00s - Debugger warning: It seems that frozen modules are being used, which may
0.00s - make the debugger miss breakpoints. Please pass -Xfrozen_modules=off
0.00s - to python to disable frozen modules.
0.00s - Note: Debugging will proceed. Set PYDEVD_DISABLE_FILE_VALIDATION=1 to disable this validation.

My python file has the following modules:

import pandas as pd

My launch.json (even tough I am not using it):

So, how/where do I pass pass -Xfrozen_modules=off?

Your launch.json should be the way to do it (pythonArgs). Python Debugger: Debug Python File doesn't use your launch.json though. You do that from the debugger pane in VS code.

Hi! Thank you for your reply.

Now I understood that Python Debugger: Debug Python File doesn't use your launch.json.

But

• Can I pass "pythonArgs": ["-Xfrozen_modules=off"] somewhere else?
• Or the only way to inform, it is through launch.json and Python Debugger: Debug Python File using launch.json?

@guilhermesilva07113 You should be able to set "purpose" on the config in launch.json. Set it to "purpose": ["debug-in-terminal"] to use it as a part of Python Debugger: Debug Python File
