Upon requesting admin install of wsl --install, IT management's response has been as follows:

Let me share some insights on WSL's security concerns from our perspective. WSL is not a pure virtual machine; instead, it acts as a bridge between the Windows and Linux operating systems. This connection allows users to access the Linux OS from within Windows, making both files visible from either operating system. As a result, malware targeting Linux hosted in WSL can potentially exploit Windows credentials and enable attackers to gain unauthorized access to compromised machines.
