📝 Provide a description of the new feature

On the General tab, I would like to see a button to show the version history.
It can be in a pop-up window, or it opens a web browser that shows the history.

It makes it easier to see what bugs have ben fixed or what new features have been added.

If you'd like to see this feature implemented, add a 👍 reaction to this post.

@JohaViss We're planning a OOBE with this function.

@JohaViss Would you like to have access to the most recent release notes or for all versions?

I'd like to see a screen that shows the most recent changes on the top and allows you to scroll back.

Not sure. But I think clicking the version number in the settings ui opens the release notes on our GitHub page.

Improve first time run experience = #1285

Not sure. But I think clicking the version number in the settings ui opens the release notes on our GitHub page.

True, it opens https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases. So, is that the solution for your question? @JohaViss
Maybe a bit of text (possibly in a tooltip) would help the "discoverability".

Reason why i don't want to do for the targeted release notes is you may have an out of date version and this could inform you there is an update.

We do want to do a dialog talking about new features as well. #1285 is part of it but i think we should maybe have upgrade OOBE be a tracking issue.

@dedavis6797 we should create a new issue for upgrade OOBE and then close this against that. part of that should address this where that prompt comes up again.

@htcfreek, thanks!

This is for OOBE but not E2E in my opinion. I don't think we've quiet be able to mark this as done.
