ℹ Computer information

  • PowerToys version: v0.20.1
  • PowerToy Utility: FancyZones
  • Running PowerToys as Admin: Yes
  • Windows build number: 1903 (18362.1016)

📝 Provide detailed reproduction steps (if any)

  1. Open a Unity project in Unity 2019.4.4f1 (or the latest 2019 LTS)
  2. Pop a panel out of the editor as its own Window.
  3. Try to use the pop-out panel with Fancy Zones (i.e. use your hotkey, such as shift), notice that unlike regular windows, the fancy zones don't seem to engage (they work fine with the main Unity window, just not any panels that you pop-out).

It's a shame, because this has a LOT of potentially to make Unity window management headaches go away, so I'd love to see this get resolved! 🙂

✔️ Expected result

When I drag a window while holding down shift (regardless of the type, whether it's popped out of another program, a native window, a UWP window, or anything else), I would like to be able to dock it to a zone with Fancy Zones when I hold down my hot key (in my case, I'm using the default hot key of "Shift").

❌ Actual result

When I pop a Unity Panel out of the main UI and into a secondary window, I'm unable to use that Window with Fancy Zones; holding down my hot key (Shift) for any length of time does nothing, the Fancy Zones never pop up and I can't dock the window.

📷 Screenshots

Not super useful, but you can see the type of window I'm talking about here:

@enricogior, I thought we had a tracking item for VS for this. Aero snap can do this

Still not resolved in PowerToys 0.47. Not sure why both this issue and the one linked above were both closed?

@BrainSlugs83 is this still not working with 0.23? https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/download/v0.23.0/PowerToysSetup-0.23.0-x64.exe

@enricogior -- As others have said, this is still not fixed. -- but the repro steps are there and obvious with screenshots -- you could just test it yourself though, I've provided enough details that it should be easy to do.

I do not believe this issue is related to #1466? Unity windows activate when you click on them just like any other application window in Windows. -- I don't think they're super special. They're just using one of the pop-up style borders. I think that's the only difference. Could be wrong though.
