Description

The app UI is inconsistent. For example, the NavigationView uses neither AcrylicBrush nor RevealBrush (like the default system Settings app, for example). PowerToys Run should have an acrylic background with reveal brushes applied to all search results, to look more "Fluent" (IMO). As suggested in different Fluent UX issues, please change the UI of Image Resizer and Power Rename, and other toys so that they look more Fluent.

Thank you.

  • XAML Islands in combination with WinUI 2.3 does not have proper support for Acrylic or Reveal. This will hopefully change in a future version of WinUI/XAML Island or when Settings is moved over to WinUI 3 Desktop. That's why the NavigationView is missing those at the moment.
  • Run is using WPF, so it doesn't have access to the UWP visual layer. Again, if Run would ever be moved over to WinUI 3 we can obviously start adding Acrylic/Reveal again.

Feel free to provide any module specific feedback in the Fluent UX topics for Image Resizer / PowerRename. Would be great to have your feedback on the concepts shown there that can hopefully be adopted at one point!

I can ensure you that providing a consistent implementation of Fluent is top of mind for me personally - it just takes time for the right technologies to mature and available :).

Tracked in #891.

TLDR: we need WinUI 3 to really make a big uniformed push on this.
