Microsoft PowerToys version

0.60.0

Running as admin

  • Yes

Area(s) with issue?

FancyZones, FancyZones Editor

Steps to reproduce

I'm having two identical secondary monitors. One in horizoontal and one in vertical orientation. When I set the Zones for one of these monitors the other one automaticaly copies these Zones.
These zones do not get copied onto my main-monitor which is a diffrent brand and modell.
PowerToysReport_2022-07-07-21-01-54.zip

✔️ Expected Behavior

Set zones for each monitor individually, so effectively having multiple monitors with each one having a different zone-setup.

❌ Actual Behavior

Zones of two identical monitors get synced with the same zone-setup each.

This is also happening with my 3 identical monitors. All three are of the same model number, resolution, orientation, and scaling. The main monitor keeps its zone, but the two other monitors sync their zone regardless of which one is selected when you set the zone.

Alternatively, clicking through the monitors in the FancyZones Editor results in the main-display's zone being selected and overlaid on one or more of the non-primary monitors. Despite the main monitor's zone appearing and selected, it does not override the currently set zone on the non-primary monitor unless you click on the (incorrectly) selected zone in the editor.

Prior to installation, the custom layout in the screenshots was applied to monitor 1, the priority grid was applied to monitor 2, and the 6 way grid was applied to monitor 3. After installation, the custom layout was applied to both monitor 1 and 3, and the priority grid was applied to monitor 2.

Changing monitor 3 to use the 6 way grid results in monitor 1 and 3 both being updated to the 6 way grid. Monitor 2 is unaffected. Attempting to open the zone editor on monitor 3 results in it being opened on monitor 1 instead. Selecting monitor 3 in the zone editor results in the priority grid from monitor 2 being overlayed on monitor 3 AND that priority grid is selected in the editor, but if you close the editor that zone layout does not actually get applied to monitor 3.

Also having this issue. Three monitors.

I can only add a custom one to the left or the right. As soon as I change either one, the other one gets reverted and swapped. This is new behavior from latest update.

Same problem here. 3 4K Monitors and after the update it failed to return to normal. Attempts to reassign layouts to monitors does not appear to be saving properly and it keeps reverting to the previous flawed or random layout selection after the update.

One of the layouts after the update altered a single zone to no longer fit on the monitor and overlap so there appears to be a problem with updating the zones during the update process so there may be errors in the zone saving preventing the layout from being properly saved. Fixing that particular error did not solve the incorrect mapping of templates to monitors. The mapping process won't even choose from the 3 selected custom templates and will use one of the normal templates with 2 of the custom templates so none of the monitor selections are saving.
