Deck NG for Android vs. Deck for Android?

I'm new to Nextcloud, and use Android.

Is this a complement to, or an alternative to, the Deck app for Android?

Does it do something that the Deck app for Android does not do?

What does NG mean?

I'd guess NG = "Next Gen". I'm not aware of an official Deck app for Android, just this one and the one maintained by Stefan Niedermann. The latter has been around for a while and I'll let @meltzow comment on the differences between that one and NG.

yes NG means "Next Generation". I a see deck NG as alternative to deck app for android. Currently NG is under heavy development and has basic functions. It's not full featured like Stefan Niedermann Apps.

I'm interested in technology and development. So I decide to develop a open-source platform/app which support iOS and android in the same way. I'm using the ionic framework for that.
There are some ideas in my brain which can be added later to the NG app. For example to support the scrum framework. But first the NG app must support more basic features.

I don't see NG as a competitor for the other apps. I see it as a chance for a new technology, where both platforms (iOS and android) can profit. It's open-source. Everyone can help and support for that.

It will be great if all the competences can be bundled to create a app for everyone. It doesn't matters which kind of smartphone or operatingsystem I have.

I hope my vision and mission is now a little bit more understandable.
