Semantic markup of Markdown files

When verifying the document, ensure that every instance of a term from another language is enclosed in an inline directive :directivename[...content...].

Language tags are denoted by a colon : followed by the three-letter ISO 639-2 code for the language, e.g.: :en[...] for English, :pl[...] for Polish, :bs[...] for Bosnian and so on.

There are a few non-standard cases when speaking of language tags:

  • :isv[] is used for Interslavic words and sentences
  • :sla[] for Proto-Slavic
  • :notr[] for generic fragments with translation disabled (notr means no translation)
  • :zle[] for East Slavic language group
  • :zls[] for South Slavic language group
  • :zlw[] for West Slavic language group

The language-specific term or phrase should be enclosed within the square brackets that follow the language tag. For example, an English word "full" should be written as :en[full], if it is used as an example, and not as a part of the general text itself.

Ensure all examples, even within sentences, are tagged appropriately. For instance, the term kråva should be tagged as :isv[kråva].

Phonetic transcriptions continue to use the :ipa[...] tag (International Phonetic Alphabet).

This notation should be applied uniformly throughout the document.
