How to update sapper template #6

I'm new to node and js in general.
I'm trying to start a project with svelte+sapper+smelte. This smelte-sapper-template it´s a bit old, what´s the best aprouch to start the project with the newest versions?
Do I have to clone the sapper-template from svelte repo and add smelte over it or trying to update sapper/svelte in this template?
