is hookshot the correct solution for getting alerts from prometheus into a matrix room?

Hi friends! I am learning the ropes on feeding alerts from prometheus into a matrix room.

Is hookshot or matrix-alertmanager the best solution for this? I see that there's metrics docs, but they seem to be implying that you can get metrics out of hookshot itself, rather than general metric alerts from say, Kubernetes, into a matrix room. Perhaps I'm confused, but if anyone could give guidance about the ideal way to get alerts from prometheus to matrix, I'd love to get help, or even be redirected to another repo or project that's ideal for this goal.

I think this is the helm chart I need. I think I just need to use the incoming webhooks 🤔

I couldn't make this repo work for webhooks yet, so I set up small-hack/matrix-alertmanager which is a fork of a fork of jaywink/matrix-alertmanager and that seems to get the job done. I will try to get it working on hookshot again if I have time.

For anyone else looking into this, there's also an issue open for adding "first-class" alertmanager support here: #635
