Mouse translation: preserve movement direction

This follows a remark from Lucashsmello.

Current mouse translation algorithm does not preserve movement direction. It tends to push movements towards diagonals. This can be easily observed when doing horizontal or vertical movements.

I've changed the translation algorithm to make it preserve movement direction. These changes are in the dev-mouse branch and I'm hoping to merge this in release 7.4.
