Marked version: 10.0.0

Clean up rules so they can be easily typed.

This will be a breaking change because the rules object has changed.

  • Test(s) exist to ensure functionality and minimize regression (if no tests added, list tests covering this PR); or,

  • If submitting new feature, it has been documented in the appropriate places.
