I tired to use it to record a Speedrun of the game but it caused the steamdeck to crash.

Oh that sounds really weird 🤔 My first idea would be that the Deck is running out of memory, or that there is some super weird drm? (though it probably is the first)

Just to be sure, does recording outside of the game work? (as in other games or in the deck system menu?
And do you mean replay mode or normal "on demand" recording?

If the memory is actually the culprit I would assume that using CryoUtilities to increase swap could potentially help (https://github.com/CryoByte33/steam-deck-utilities)?

And do you think it is possible for you to grab the logfiles after attempting to record? There are three logfiles, in:
/tmp/decky-recorder.log
/tmp/decky-recorder-std-out.log
/tmp/decky-recorder-std-err.log

I figured out that it doesn't have any issues if you start the recording inside the game instead of starting it in the steam deck menu. That may be the reason.

Oh. Just to make sure, if you start a recording in the steam menu and then start the game, then the deck crashes?

Maybe it's related to #8 and the game is doing something weird resolution wise? Though I would assume that this shouldn't matter to gst, due to gamescope? Hmmm

Do you play docked or not docked?
