I appreciate your enthusiasm.

There are already numerous issues filed on improving the standard library encoding/xml. For example: golang/go#14407
I had also posted a reference to this repository here in the above standard library sum issue back in September and never got any feedback.

The standard library is quite resistant to (breaking) changes in behaviour which makes merging this probably a futile endeavor. This would probably be rather a thing for a hypotheticaly encoding/xml/v2
