Offloading this addon to free up my time for work and other projects. Code must be kept open source and ad-free, but otherwise make changes as you see fit.

This will probably not have any problems with Anki updates for sometime, so there should be enough time to familiarize yourself with the code. Please let me know if you're interested.

@dgeranton gets first dibs since he has made previous code contributions.

I would be interested in taking over. Would you be open to it if I just put a link to my patreon in the add-on and/or on the add-on page? That is how I fund the maintenance and creation of all my add-ons. Since I am not a software engineer myself, I rely on paying other excellent engineers to help me out. Happy to chat more over phone, email, etc if you want more details about how I run things and where all the money goes.

I think doing things this way will get really confusing. Who's the current maintainer, who's keeping this updated, who screwed up and caused the bug, or other liability concerns. As you are not a programmer, you won't spot these problems. I prefer to hand these projects to CS students that will benefit from the learning experience and be able to maintain it without the dependence from random third party helpers.

But I do acknowledge a need for a spellchecker that is kept up to date with current releases of Anki. As it doesn't seem like any one is interested in taking over, why don't you just Fork this under a different name. Considering the changes made to 2.1.50, you may have to change a large portion of the code anyways.

Sounds good? Let me know of the Ankiweb link and I will update the page redirecting users to the new spellchecker.

I have enough CS knowledge and I test the add-ons regularly to know what's working and what isn't and then I pay people to fix things that aren't working. Your plan seems reasonable though! I probably won't be able to get to it for a few weeks and I will have to look into the 2.1.50 changes and functionality, but I'll be in touch. If someone else comes along and wants to maintain this, that's fine with me

I could help out.
However I noticed that @BlueGreenMagick is currently rather actively working on @AnKingMed's branch. And as I feel like it's a waste of resources if we were to work in two different forks, I'll ask them if they could use the help.

@lovac42 would it make more sense to just have Damien transfer your ankiweb page to us? Or would you prefer we upload it as a separate add-on?

We updated for newer Anki versions and made it so that you can add custom words to a dictionary

@AnKingMed : Please post a new addon with a different name. It's more about licenses. (I know I'm being idealistic here.) Thanks.
