angular 1.6.1 an issue?

not sure if this has anything to do with the version of angular, but I'm unable to get this plugin to work after following all the listed usage steps.

we've locked in angular 1.6.1 for our dependencies, and are using ckeditor and your angular-ckeditor directive without issue. all is working perfectly.

when trying to implement the angular-ckeditor-placeholder directive, we get no console errors, but the placeholder text does not appear. all paths are set correctly - i'm able to console a message out from the angular-ckeditor-placeholder script. could this be because of incompatibilities with our version of angular?
