At least for some duration after the initial posting time, I should be able to edit or delete my discussion posts.

This probably applies to comments as well.

There also needs to be some kind of indicator that a post has been edited... especially if there are ever moderators with the ability to edit posts.

I have started on this, but I'm in two minds on whether you should be able to edit the url.

I am leaning towards no as it changes the source of the post from what people may have previously seen.

The only useful thing I could think of that you wouldn't be able to do, is to correct a broken url (you would have to delete the post and start again)

I think if possible you should be able to edit it unless there are comments.

Or if it has upvotes from other users?

Or even just have the post preview before submitting. Although it technically already does this.

I don't know how I feel about editing content after it's posted, but I'm more comfortable with appending content. Maybe underneath the post you have something like "EDIT 9:46am: I made a mistake above, I meant to say Y, and I said X instead."

I agree with treygriffith. I think appending would be nice because the original post remains intact.

Update: I added the ability to edit comments within an hour in #409.
