Hover image preview doesn't work when working remotely

Hover image preview doesn't work when working remotely.
For example I am developing on a windows PC that is remoted to a linux box.
The temporary files that are used for the hover functionality are stored on the linux box and therefore the windows box cannot view them.

I have the same problem since I updated vscode to 1.95.3. Hover image preview doesn't work, but it shows the cache directory that exists
