Sometimes the Ardiuno Pulse Sensor firmware that came with the Pulse Sensor (found at the Pulse Sensor downloads detects many false-positive secondary heart beats during an excited state from the user (such as after running). There may be other subtle recording anomalies that might be apparent in the hearbeat files.

The stock Pulse Sensor firmware is great but now we should look at how to upgrade it given our experience collecting data with it.

A testing plan would be:

  • Transmit (serial) and record the entire signal of the Pulse Sensor light sensor
  • Compare the arduino RR interval data with the better peak detection methods (numpy algos) of the "true" signal
