Recapturing basics of probability theory and statistics from an engineering perspective.

Prepare:

Compendium: Read Chapter 4.

Your learning objective for this first reading is:

You know about the different interpretations of probability and which one is most suited for engineers and why.
You know and understand the difference between aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty.
You are aware about the some "mechanism" that suggest certain type of distribution functions, i.e. for the strength of brittle material or the extreme realisations of variable loads.
