Just trying to verify the sketch in IDE and keep getting this error at line 97 just after the brightness topic is stated. I'm using a tilt topic there and trying to make this work as a cover but I'm still lost as to why this error keeps appearing.
Any ideas?

Since you are using a generic esp8266, the ide does not have a pin map, thus you need to use the actual PIN number instead. D4 might be pin 2. You have to find out for your board. You can try selecting nodemcu instead as it does have a mapping and might be the same assignment as your board.
