Manipulating a single column

Hi,
I have the following dataframe, I want to lowerize the text column

but for some reason, when I try to apply on it:

df.column('text').apply(x => x.toLowerCase(), {inplace: true});

I get the error: TypeError: x.toLowerCase is not a function, when I console.log(x) I see also numbers/

How can I lowerize one column?

df['text'].apply(x =>x.toLowerCase()).print()

however df['text'].apply(x =>x.toLowerCase(), {inplace:true}) is not working as expected
