Dream game: platformer game structure. Each area you take on a different forme and there are different rules to the world/different palettes/ambience/soundtrack.
Shining doors are the gateways between worlds. Teleporter stones can be activated in each world for quick access between them.
Collect a crystal cube from each of the worlds to unlock the end of the world.
It's free roaming and if the immediate paths you've taken lead to the same areas, but new ones/expired ones lead to new areas. The various areas have various challenges to be beaten that lead to new areas/forms
Your actions have effects on the world and leave traces of remembrance. Make it haunting and creepy like japandreamgame, but never make it feel like there isn't something to do or learn, or somewhere to go (there was too much walking and not enough puzzles/combat puzzles in dreamgame), or things to play with/react to you...
