i.e. for work, i want to:

  • open chrome with specific tabs (tabs can be pinned)
  • open emacs to a specific folder
  • make certain commands and environment variables available
  • start a development client and server with my current work

alternatively, i want to restore the previous state of my current workspace, whatever that means

  • need to distinguish 'workspace modification' commands from 'active work commands'; the former changes how the workspace functions and should be restored, while the latter changes work within the workspace. may also be okay to capture current states in the workspace that might be relevant, like current directory in terminal, etc
