Hello which grbl sources you are used. I found that grbl-5X are best functional many years ago. (I ported sd-card and lcd to it previously google: grbl5XLT (have keyb &etc config option btw. I have run plasma table & thc with it.. ramps1.4 boards.. But them price &properties vs. esp32, i2c-lcd etc..)

I have plans maybe to port grbl to embedded linux kernel module, but zephyr may work also and you have done some work. Need to investigate your job, thank for sharing..

Main plan is esp32 chips (due price/boards availabe). Maybe ROS and moving CNC tools or something..
