  • the same is true for a newly created bit.ly link (irrespective of original url, which of course then replaces the href), from which I infer that either bit.ly changed how it works or smash did
  • since I cannot imagine how bit.ly works without using redirects I think a change to smash is the culprit

Impact:

  • the pool does not show in Daedalus anymore
  • the only solutions besides fixing it on the smash-level involve changing the pool metadata again. If cardano-cli allows for longer urls now that would be annoying but feasible; if not, users would have to find and use an alternative to github gist. However, I feel redirects are something that should not break things.

I thought this was impacting us after you suggested it on #190, but I've updated our metadata away from GitHub and things still aren't working unless SMASH waits for the next epoch boundary (we changed it before the epoch change)
