then add a new image > choose to make a photo right away with the mobile device > make the picture Vertically (as usual with phones)
you will see that the thumbnail is then rendered horizontally... once uploaded and saved, exif is read and everything is fine, yet the initial preview is a suboptimal experience
reproduced on an iphone and a samsung galaxy too, so not device specific
example below (note I am holding the pen vertically), after upload everything is fine
