Metling Pot Seminar Series(Dream. Code. Create.)

This seminar series is sponsored by Microsoft 'Melting pot' program with our slogan 'Dream Code Create'. The purpose of this seminar is to present contents related to Python, Django and web developement in general. There is no cost for you and all seminars run by a mixture of professionals and volunteers who want to bring more women into the tech by making technology more approachable, simpler and friendlier. [I want to become Presenter]

Anyone can be a speaker at our seminar, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, experience, age, race and experience. Especially we hope to see more women developers on the stage! We are grateful to you for sharing your experiences and knowledge about programming. If you want to be our speaker, write down your introduction briefly with presentation title and description to [email protected]

Q1. What can be the main contents of the presentation?

Choose one of the following : Dream, Code, Create

Dream

What is your dream about coding? What you want to achieve with coding? You can also share your experiences related to community, conference participation etc.

Code

Coding guidelines and Basic tutorials related to Python, Django, HTML, CSS and Javascript

Create

If you have created a website using Django and Python. You can share your experiences and tip for beginners.

Q2.Is there any guideline for Presenter?

If you are Django Girls Seoul Organizer, Coach or presentor, you must read Django Girls Coach Manual

Q3. Do any benefits go with this seminar?

Based on Django Girls Seoul is non-profit community, we don't give monetary incentives to organizers,coaches and presentors. However, we would like to help you in presentation and promote your acitivity

  • Technical Support - Regarding your presentation, Django Girls meta coaches can help you anytime!
  • English Support for Korean Speaker - If you need any support for translating your presentation to English, don't hesitate to ask us!
  • Video Recording - If you want to record your presentation, we will prepare MIC and video recording for you.

[I want to attend an event or seminar]

We will annouce all the details (date & time, location, things to prepare, topics) of seminar through our social channels. Please note them down : Facebook, Twitter and Slack

Q1. Can boys attend seminar?

This seminar is different from Django Girls Workshop, therefore both boys and girls are welcomed! However, while selecting the participants for seminar, girls will be given priority.

Q2. I am a beginner, can I still participate?

Yes, you can attend. However, we recommend you to learn the basis of Python from Codecademy and also go through Django Girls Tutorial before attending seminar.

Q3. What should I prepare before attending the seminar?

Please make sure that you have installed Python 3.5, Git, Django 1.9 and a code editor (Atom,Sublime Text 3 or Microsoft Visual Code). You may find Installation Chapter in Django Girls Tutorial.

Q4. Can I get the presentation material after the seminar?

Yes, We will share them via Facebook, Slack and email! After every seminar, We will share presentation slides via our social channels. Facebook, Twitter and Slack

Code of Conduct

You must agree to Django Girls Code of Conduct before joining any activity with Django Girls Seoul.

In short

Django Girls is dedicated to providing a harassment-free seminar experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.

  • We do not tolerate harassment of seminar participants in any form.
  • Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any seminar venue, including talks.
  • Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees. Behave professionally. Don’t publish photographs of people without their consent. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for Django Girls.
  • Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the seminar without a refund at the discretion of the seminar organizers.

Longer version

  • Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
  • Be careful in the words that you choose. Remember that sexist, racist, and other exclusionary jokes can be offensive to those around you. Excessive swearing and offensive jokes are not appropriate for Django Girls.
  • If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the seminar organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the seminar with no refund.
  • We expect participants to follow these rules at all seminar venues and seminar-related social events.

Reporting harassment

  • If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact your coach or one of the organizers immediately.
  • The staff is well informed on how to deal with the incident and how to further proceed with the situation. Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
