NVDA announces checkmark characters

Describe the issue

On the Resources page, the checkmark icon/character (✓) in a checked box is announced by NVDA, which is repetitive and may cause some confusion.

E.g. after the "PDF Article" checkbox is selected, it is announced as:
"PDF Article check checkbox checked"

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to the Resources page
2. Click on any checkbox
3. Navigate tp that checkbox with the screen reader
4. Experience error

Expected behavior

The checkmark character should not be announced. The solution may be to mark the checkmark element with aria="hidden" or possibly role="decoration".
