  • Decide on how institutes should be cited in the official WGBIOP reports and when data/images are downloaded for external use.
  • making images downloadable
    Example
“MRI, SmartDots event XXX, (2024), ICES SmartDots database. DOI, (Accessed: 16 February 2024)” based on https://guides.lib.umich.edu/c.php?g=282964&p=3285995
  • highlight this when data is being downloaded
  • add in disclaimers

  • first make sure that the institutes are inserted in the uploadfile
  • no DOI for database possible (because changes are made in published events).
  • icon needed to download images and metadata all in one

Images can be downloaded now, here is an example: https://smartdots.ices.dk/api/images/DownloadEventImages?tblEventID=387

Added the data rights holder to the format, the new template is here: https://smartdots.ices.dk/uploads/SmartDotsSampleFile.xlsm

Do we need to tell the country coordinators they can't use the old template anymore? Because the new field is mandatory...

The disclaimer includes now also the DataRightHolders, here is an example: https://smartdots.ices.dk/download/DownloadEvent.ashx?tblEventID=1842

It's in the May 2024 newsletter, so I think that is covered.

Thanks a lot!
I think we should split citation in two: one for ICES for the use of SmartDots, and then one for the institutes providing images:
Suggestion for use of SmartDots: use same citation as on the webpage and newsletter for using SmartDots:

Suggestion for data providers of images/data:

I would like to discuss how to cite during september meeting.

@cmspinto,

  1. as discussed during the physical meeting, please provide this data also in the downloadfile to @gonpatricia so that the references can also be added in the report
  2. I tested the disclaimer and indeed, the institutes are mentioned there. (thanks!) the only thing is that it doesn't seem the correct way to cite the institutes

is it possible to to it this way (as we discussed above, also inserting the access date and so on):
