IFUNCs are weird, can cause weird bugs, are convenient for the xz-utils hook method, and are uncommon in real life; see thread,

Just how uncommon are they?

For whatever software does use them, does it already have fallbacks when ifunc is unavailable (building w/musl, etc.)?

For software that does use them, were they added ~recently? See what should be a Mastodon link.

So:

  1. survey binpkgs for use of ifunc.
  2. check on their upstreams to see:
  3. do they have a fallback for when ifunc is not supported?
  4. how recently did they add ifunc use?
