I've just run into the same problem, but it turned out I also didn't have access to run simple git commands on the command line, the following error was thrown:
Agreeing to the Xcode/iOS license requires admin privileges, please run “sudo xcodebuild -license” and then retry this command.
So I started Xcode, accepted the prompted license agreement, let it install some updates, and then voila! Git info appears in the status line again :)
OS : Windows 10 Pro
Hyper version : 3.0.2
hyper-statusline version : 1.7.6
On a fresh install, Git info doesn't appear. Current path displays fine though.
