There haven't been any commits for the past 8 months.

is this repo dead? I have some contributions but I'm not sure if I should help with another repo.

I was wondering the same. It would be a shame because its not far off. I would be prepared to help resurrect it.

I'm all for resurrecting it, and I'd help in the resurrection effort!

Hey guys - This is Harish, Owner of this repo. I started this project off to build it to completion. However, I switched jobs and don't have enough time to actively build this anymore. I would be happy if you guys (or anyone interested) could take this forward!

Thanks
Harish

Thanks for the work so far. Obviously I can look through the issues list, but is there anything that jumps out as the most important thing to do to move the project on?

I'd love to take it forward.

The two ways I think this can go is 1) add me as a contributor in the repo settings, 2) transfer ownership to me or 3) transfer ownership to a new Impressionist team (github lets new teams be created on the free plan)

I'd be fine with any option.

Hi Owen just to chip in with my vision which maybe too ambitious but maybe not. Im playing with the idea of building a website that allows people to build dynamic javascript slideshows from json. So basically it's a playground for all the cool html5/css3/javascript slideshows, carousels, timelines, galleries etc. All these demos/plugins are basically the same content with a wrapper element and item selector, that then have the javascript/css applied to create all these dynamic presentations e.g. impressjs, timelinejs, scrollpath - I'm sure you know lots of them.

Now of all of these probably the hardest to implement is impressjs because it is using 3dimensional space, 4 if you include time. So Im thinking wouldnt it be great if we have the concept of a slide builder - which could be either created slide by slide or pulled in from an rss feed (or maybe json). Then you choose which presentation package you want e.g. impress then it autocreates a default impress slideshow that you can then edit. However if you want to embed as a timeline instead you just switch view.

Ideally I like the idea that I create a site similar to todomvc that you can see all the different presentation plugins using the same content. I could do that without actually allowing people to build and edit their own but that is of course much more powerful.

Sorry for going off tangent a little bit but I thought I'd throw that in there.

Just to add some some conceptual thinking.

What I think makes more sense is limiting people more than the current impressionist does. So rather than dragging any number of pictures or text to the canvas you would probably have a form for each slide that would allow 1 embedded object (image/video/map/audio..src link), 1 title text and 1 description text. 1 optional small credit text and ability to apply links to any of these objects. Look at timelinejs as an example. The description text would be rich html so you could have bulleted text and apply fly-in effects and more advanced features that way.

Anyway that's my brain download over .

Hey guys,

I resumed some work on this project, and I hope to check in a new branch later next week.

It's going to be interesting ;)

Thanks
Harish

Okay, sounds cool!

Are you accepting pulls now?

@harish-io

Not just yet. In a week's time, hopefully.

I have archived the exisiting version of impressionist under a folder called "alpha3"

Okay, great.

so, that last "in a weeks time, hopefully" was 3 weeks ago.

Obviously, @harish-io 's, ability to work on this is somewhat limited. That's fine, life happens, and you're not getting paid to work on this.

So, what about pushing the changes you've got so far to a new branch with Big glaring warnings about what's working and what's not? Then others would be able to help out rather than thinking.... "well I would fix this bug, but he's not accepting pull requests and says everything's about to change..."

I've currently got finals. They finish next Wednesday afternoon; after that I'd love to work on impressionist.

If I don't remember, feel free to ping me.

Cheers,
Owen
