Instead of deb and rpm packages, have a look into Flatpak and/or Snap packages. They allow you to only have to package hackmd-cli once for all Linux distros together. I personally prefer Flatpak since it's completely open-sourced (even the server parts) and not controlled by a single enterprise (Canonical), but I have no actual packaging experience. Snap might be more suitable for CLI tools.
