Member Feature Page #656
Comments
Hi! We are working on a project to increase opportunities for employment for select members. There is a full overview of the project and what we are hoping to achieve in this issue (above). We are still in the planning stages of this page/project and want to take a moment to ensure that we are moving in the right direction. Can you comment on this issue with the following information:

I've started a draft. Let me know what feedback anyone has and what other info we need on there. I don't know what members we want to feature either. |
@christina245 If you put your current draft in the #hfla-site in our slack community and ask for feedback. We can move forward as a group. |
Made new versions of the page on Figma. |
@christina245 Can you please provide an update about the new version of your questions? Thanks! |

@daniellex0 If so, also put the issue back to the prioritized backlog |
The questions have been organized depending on the interviewee. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T_xwVgdl7KBOKODke92yRPR5Cu_A0TAWovE9jfYiFEU/edit The next step is to create a research plan like this one: https://docs.google.com/document/d/143MYvgdetufZtXZQT4CfmAyRIbbnXPgg6wsMu6dq1UI/edit |
I provided some suggestions. Don't hesitate to slack me if you need more clarity on it :) |

I think determining what KPIs and ancillary services are provided should be a part of the action items for the issue |
The file was in the old drive, I have made the drive view access for current pms. Anyone being assigned to this issue will need that access. |

WORK IN PROGRESS
Short-form Overview
In order to increase equality in tech, Hack for LA wants to highlight underrepresented talent from the HfLA community, in an effort to increase chances of employment for these individuals.
Long-form Overview
At HfLA, we have an incredible pool of talent that is driven, eager to learn, and already trained for jobs across software development - product, design, development, and so on. At present, the projects cards are the only way to identify HfLA members and their areas of expertise. By creating a 'member feature page', we can can share the most important information on our members, making it easy for recruiters and hiring managers to identify talent for specific jobs.
This is a huge undertaking - both from a build perspective and in terms of maintenance. Therefore, before we devote too many resources, we'd like to prove it out with a 'pilot' of sorts. We will start with a small subset of our member pool and build an MVP. From there, we can determine if we are able to reach the KPIs we have set out to (defined below).
For the pilot, we would like to start by focusing on our Black members. Given the dialogue that is going on all around us, this will be an authentic & impactful way to step into the conversation AND prove out the value of this page. We will build the page to focus on our Black members, across projects, and then drive traffic to the page via email, cross-site linking, slack, social media accounts, and more.
