Overview

Help with writing/terminology for site navigation and identify blockers.

Action Items

Part 1:

  • Identify which materials were used (IA site map, interactive prototype, etc.)?
  • Meet with @hannahsgr and @ashleyxz for background context/questions on 4/26
  • Access dataset
  • Confirm whether a writing/content style guide exists (and if so, access it)
  • Confirm next steps

Part 2: Post-Meeting 4/26

  • Further testing
    • A/B tests for some of the alternative terms.
  • File organization
    • Consolidate all of the different spreadsheets/materials into a single space for ease of reference/newly onboarded members.

Update

  1. Materials used for tree test: IA site map.
  2. Noted that "All content reference page" isn't part of tree.
  3. Dataset shared in Slack - Destination map with counif fcn in Excel.
  4. Hannah:

Please comment on the Google Doc I linked earlier. As for the best next steps, please go over the Google doc linked and get familiar with the tree testing issues. On Tuesday we can discuss solutions."

  1. Lucy referenced issues Website Copy  #87 and Website About Page: Origin Story  #106 for future interest with UX Writing (will keep on backburner for now)
  2. Learned that Aubrey Schiavone joined as UX writer
  3. Learned that there is no current writing style guide/system

Action Items

  • Examine dataset and analyses
    • Setup statistical pre-post comparisons & dataviz options
    • Read through & comment on tree test doc
  • Confirm whether I need to make a new issue for lists like these or if posting them as comments is appropriate.
  • Move updates about wireframes and content styles to new issue.

Blockers:

  • Organization is a bit all over the place right now; looking forward to consolidating all of this stuff into one centralized place.
  • Waiting on meeting with Ashley & Hannah tomorrow for next steps.

Progress

  • Met with Hannah and Ashley to ideate solutions for tree test results.
  • It seems that there is a disconnect between design, data science, and IA (from what I could gather). Hannah planned to sync up with them to confirm whether some of the nav items are even still needed.
  • Ashley suggested that we do a few moderated interviews to clarify participants' thought processes during tree tests.
  • Hannah suggested that we do some A/B tests with resulting data from moderated interviews.

Blockers

  1. There are so many files across different people that it's very hard to keep track of where everything is. I didn't have access to some of the important files that were shared and this really hindered my working memory during the meeting.
    2. Not sure if I have a role in the moderated testing/A/B testing since I'm technically doing UX writing. I'd like to be a part of the process though since I want direct experience (even to just observe). However, I do think it's important that I play an active role in research material construction so that we can make sure the wording/content is on point before using it in research.

Availability

Open all week.

ETA

Depends on what I learn from blocker 2.
