build: AIX port #7208

Issue #7210 has been merged into this issue. |
Considering that the gc compiler supports neither PowerPC nor COFF, an AIX port would be a substantial amount of work. I'm not aware of anybody on the core Go team interested in working on this. Unless somebody with a lot of time and skill steps forward, I think support is quite unlikely. It would be much less work to add AIX support to the gccgo compiler. I doubt it works today but I think somebody with some knowledge of the XCOFF object file format could do the port without too much work. Status changed to LongTerm. |
looks like #19200 has some work towards this |
GCC Go v8.1 (go v1.10) has been ported on AIX v7 by my team. Available from BullFreeware web-site. golang v1.11 is now being ported on AIX 7.2 . The port should be finalized in August/September. It should be available first on BullFreeware web-site. |
See: #25893 . |
We now have an AIX/ppc64 port and we are already using #25893 to link all the CLs, so we can close here. |
