Context

• JetBrains is also focusing on this during 2023 Q1: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-30/IntelliJ-Warm-up-iImplementation

• In Q4 of 2022 we worked on improving Maven prebuilds using hacks or workarounds on Gitpod's side: Epic: JetBrains Prebuilds for Maven #6740

Value

JVM users using IntellJ have a great experience using Gitpod

Acceptance Criteria

• IDE opens fast and smart features like code completion is available immediately (pre-indexing works)
• IDE pick ups up right config (e.g user configured JDK) without any hacks on our side
• At least one project for Maven and Gradle are used to test

We observe usage of IntellJ increase for JVM users
