Staged changes aren't shown in multidiff until window reload after staging

After I stage files, I sometimes would like to review the changes again, but the staged files load without any diff highlights until the window is reloaded (note, not the extension host). Has somebody encountered this before and could point me to an issue? I haven't tried to create a minimally reproducible example yet, not sure if it's worth it if nobody else encountered this.
