Can SurfaceTexture be a COPY_SRC?

I want to read back what's rendered in the window.

      encoder.copy_texture_to_buffer(frame.texture.as_image_copy(), image_copy_buffer_base,readback_texture_size );

I basically want to read pixels from the current frame's texture.

But this would fail giving an error that the texture doesn't have COPY_SRC as its usage.

the texture is a SurfaceTexture obtained from the render window's surface. I didn't create it, is there a way to use it as COPY_SRC?

Or do I have to render it to an offscreen surface?
