Online vs offline dust emission #2604
Comments
Thanks for writing @ChangpeiHe. I believe the dust emissions are scaled to match the emissions for the year 2000, and the other years are allowed to vary. Tagging @yuanjianz @YanshunLi-washu who have worked with the offline emissions more than I have. |
I think the offline emission are scaled to 2000Tg for 2016. The scale factor for 2016 is used for other years. I am not sure about how the current scaling factors for the online emission in configuration files were generated (But I guess they are also for 2016?). |
Hi. I agree with Yuanjian for offline dust emission. Not sure about developments on online emissions to match offline emissions in yr question, Jun Meng at WSU (https://www.jun-meng.com/) might be a better contact. |

Thanks! I believe online emissions would match offline emissions in the future version. |

I'd like to know whether the online dust emission scheme was updated according to the scheme described in Meng et al. (a high-resolution dust source function and global annual dust emission strength of 2000 Tg yr−1 rather than 909 Tg yr−1 ) for current version of GEOS-Chem (e.g., v14.x.x)?
