We currently have two use case templates:

Based on some recent feedback, and work developing a new use case, the instructions for these could be updated and clarified. Perhaps we should consolidate to only one template, and we should also include information about best practices for setting up content to run in Google Colab (if that is what we want to use rather than Binder).

Adding detailed instructions to the simple template with this PR

Perhaps we should consolidate to only one template

This is probably best. For context, this repository was copied from uwhackweeks jupyterbook template (https://github.com/uwhackweek/jupyterbook-template). After working with the first round of use-cases it seemed that the github actions were overly complicated for getting started (e.g. conda-lock, reusable workflows). Thus the attempt to strip down to the more streamlined "simple-template" https://github.com/geo-smart/simple-template. But unfortunately I didn't want to ask people who were already using this repo to start fresh with the new template...

I think we could safely archive this repository and just pin / point people to simple-template for any future use. But also fine leaving it as-is!

@NCristea , what do you think about removing the link to this template from the geosmart website, and instead just have the link to the "simple template" repository?

Sounds good! This is a more flexible option.
