Understanding how to create generic plugins

I've found some useful documentation on how to get started creating Gatsby plugins here, but I'm specifically interested in learning how to create a plugin for a UI library (ts based) similar to gatsby-plugin-antd or gatsby-plugin-material-ui. I've read through the code but still a little lost. Is there anything out there that can help with creating a plugin of this variety?
