Thanks for this list, you definitely caught some things I missed. Maybe add to it also the LST simulations which Mykhailo brought up? Not sure it would require us to implement an output DB (probably not), but testing single telescope simulation and discussing with LST how to make it most useful for them would be good. |

Discussion thread on random items noted at the CTAC 2021 Spring meeting (no deep thinking, just want to write it down). Maybe add as well anything forgotten.
LST simulations / gammasim-tools
Testing gammasim-tools for single telescope simulations (concept, applications, DB); ease of use, especially for changing parameters.
LST calibration
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/28979/
--> charge resolution (page 10): comparison of data and MC
I assume this is done with the light emission package and ctapipe tools for the charge resolution calculation? Seen a similar plot from the SST groups.
--> time resolution vs intensity (page 11/12)
Use of light intensity package; calibration routines in ctapipe?
--> pulse shapes from laser / shower (page 15)
LST chain
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/28981/
--> do we need to consider bright stars in the FOV for the MC and if yes, how do we validate that we do it correctly?
Reconstruction parameters
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/28980/
--> comparision of core position after reconstruction
This is part of a larger workflow where we compare a large number of single telescope and image parameters before / after cuts between MC and data.
Requires full gamma/background event simulation, ctapipe reconstruction, comparison plots.
LST performance
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/28982/
--> Muon analysis (page 5; 8)
This is already on our list and maybe we should understand better what it all involves (muon simulations, comparison tools).
Do I get it right that the optical efficiency is a simply scaling factors applied in the MC?
Needed are muon simulations, a ctapipe tool for the analysis, and comparision?
--> rates vs gammaness (page 6/7)
This is cosmic ray rate, does that include protons only or also other primaries?
Star tracking
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/28984/
Probably need to keep this on our list that this is one possible use case for the MC: simulating a given star field in the FOV. Requires getting the constellation / brightness / color from a catalogue.
Wondering if this could also be used for model tests (e.g., throughput).
Clouds
https://indico.cta-observatory.org/event/3475/contributions/29011/
Not sure if we would validate MC simulations from clouds differently to those taken under normal weather? I don't think so, but we should keep an eye on it.
